"Bom Jesus" is one of the best places to visit in Braga, the one you NEED to visit. I will explain to you how to get there, the prices, the best hour to go and what place you need to visit after to taste the famous dish/candy "Tripas de Aveiro" or "Sweet Tripas".

.

When I visit Braga (this month) I went from Porto so the best way to get there is by train.

If you are in Porto, Lisbon or other city of Portugal you can do the same or if you have a car I recomend you Google Maps, he will help you more than I.

Google Maps always help me in everything, he's normally my best friend when I'm traveling.

The ticket of the train from Porto to Braga is 3,25€ to go and more 3,25€ to come back (total = 6,50€). The price can change depending on what city you are or the date you are going to visit Braga. You can see how much it will cost you in the CP - Comboios de Portugal - website or app (https://www.cp.pt/passageiros/en).

You're already in Braga? Just need to follow the next steps

Now you're in Braga already is really easy. You'll see that have a bus station in front of the train station (is the one in the left), you just need to go there and catch the bus number "2" and get out in the last stop - "Bom Jesus". The price of the ticket is 1,55€ to go, then when you come back you will need to buy another one.

When you get out of the bus, in "Bom Jesus", you have two opcions: go up by the stairs or go up by the cable car. The first one is free and if you're like me probably you will feel like your dying after 10 stairs......so I dont recomend it. The second one you need to pay 1,50€ to go up or pay 2,50€ to go up and then down.

My recommendation is: buy the ticket to go up in the cable car and then go down by the stairs. These way you don't get to tired and you can appreciate all the beautiful views you'll have.

The best hour to go is early, if you can be there already at 9.00 a.m is the best to don't find there to much people and have the place all to yourselves.

Cable car schedules
 - In winter time: 8:55 a.m - 12:55 a.m / 1:55 p.m - 5:55 p.m
 - In summer time: 8:55 a.m - 7:55 p.m

What to do next?

You can't get out of Braga without taste the famous "Tripas de Aveiro". Probably you're asking yourselves "Tripas DE (of) AVEIRO in Braga?", well "Tripas de Aveiro" are a specialty of Portuguese sweets, typical of the region of Aveiro. Traditionally, it's served warm and on a napkin, plain or filled with chocolate or the traditional soft eggs ("ovos moles").

The store is called "Doce Maria" and stays in the center of Braga. Basically the passion for "Tripas" that the owners feel just make them wanted to bring to Braga a little bit of the taste of Aveiro.

I discovered this place just a short time ago and now all the time I visit Braga I need to make a stop there.

I didn't taste all the flavours they have, but having in mind the ones I tasted I recommend you the Nutella one and the one with "Ovos Moles" ("soft eggs").

Is really sweet this dish, so probably is better if you just buy one and taste it to see what you think. All the times I buy it I never eat it all in one day, normaly it takes me 2 days to eat it all but I have friends that just eat it all in one day, so depends on how much you like candys.
